One visit to BlackHorse Golf Club, and you will know why it is considered one of the top public courses in the state of Texas. With two 18 Hole courses that provide landscapes like nowhere else in Houston, BlackHorse Golf Club is as challenging as it is beautiful.
We feature a variety of landscapes, including our notable South Course back nine quarry. Our courses are traditional in style, so you won’t find a lot of housing. What you will find is a lot of mature trees – majestic oaks, live oaks, and pine – that offer an aged feel to our courses, well beyond its 2001 inception.
Our layout is superior and requires all the clubs in your bag. You can swing away with the driver on most holes. You’ll appreciate lots of changes throughout the course no matter your skill level. We have six sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all levels,
Our players, are equally divided as to course preference, including both male and female alike. Ranked as one of the top facilities for women by the Houston Chronicle, the ladies who play BlackHorse love it!

We’re a youngster as golf courses go, but well received!
Opened in 2001, BlackHorse has been “fast tracked” into acceptance and appeal! We’ve hosted a PGA Tour qualifier in 2003; the 2004 Texas Women’s Amateur Championship, and the 2002-4 US Amateur Sectional Qualifiers.
For 2002-2003, we were rated the “#1 Daily Fee Course in Houston” by the Houston Sporting News, and rated in the Top 10 of “America’s Best Courses $100 or less” by Travel & Leisure Golf Magazine.
The courses feature TifEagle greens and TifSport fairways. You’ll play wide and narrow fairways — some requiring careful club selection, some just swing away!

On the way to start your round …
You’ll be wowed by our ranch style design and picturesque long driveway to the Clubhouse, passing two holes along the way. The Clubhouse is surrounded by the North course; a bridge over a bayou leads you to the South course. Best Par-5…
#15 on the South Course. At 560 yards from the back tees, this par 5 can be reached in two, but consequences await any mistruck shot. A creek runs across the fairway. The wetlands and several bunkers protect the entire left side. #15 is definitely a “high risk/high reward” hole. The view from the green is one of the best BlackHorse has to offer.
Best Par-3…
#17 on the South Course. This long par 3 (157 – 199 yards) surrounded by wetlands, with a winding water-level bridge about 100 yards long up to the elevated green. #17 is one of our most scenic holes...but don't get too caught up in the view...precision counts here.
Toughest Hole…
#4 on the North Course is the most challenging hole. This nemesis par 4 only plays up to 420-yards, but with water down the right side, huge bunkers and an elevated green, it is a true test for any golfer. Par is a great score here!
Toughest Green…
#6 North is tough! This medium length par 3 poses a menacing challenge. Three bunkers surround the left side as a severely sloping green falls right, into a hazard. Being on the correct side of the slope is key to avoiding difficult putts.
